Spring time!!!???? and Blouse Progress

I am still continuing plans to switch to spring sewing.  Last week we had three glorious days of spring time with highs in the 60's and 70's.  Then Wednesday night, winter returned and Thursday was a high of 28!  Yesterday another great spring day-high of 72.  Today we are expecting rain, temperatures dropping to lows in the 30's with ice and snow called for.
 
If you look in the right sidebar of the blog under Instagram photos you will see a shot of the blouse.  That was the status this morning.  Since then I have interfaced the collar, collar stand, sleeve cuffs and front bodice band.  I have also turned up the hem and plan to stitch that tonight.

I basted the front bands and side seams earlier this week for my first fitting.  I found the size and fit to be good.  I think that I will need to make adjustments to the shoulder length before adding the sleeves.  I cannot find my blouse I made previously; I think I may have decided to give it to Goodwill as I was not wearing it very much.  I remember the sleeves being rather full and will probably made adjustments there also.

I'm Back

Had a great time at the beach!  I would loved to have stayed longer.  Maybe next year!

I am still on vacation, DH went back to work today.  Me-I sewed all day long (well almost!)  I did stop to go to CURVES, then lunch, watched a sewing DVD and then showered.  Then back to sewing.  My back is feeling tired so decided I had to stop for awhile. 

I made a lot of progress on the Yellow Dress!  Not much left to do. Bodice and skirt are now attached.  I need to insert elastic.  I then have an elastic belt that needs to be covered with fabric.  I think I may have an issue with finding a buckle to use with the elastic belt.  I also have enough fabric to attempt to use belt backing and the like;  I am just not real sure I want to expend that much energy.

Completed bodice with neckline binding and hemmed dropped sleeves

Here is the bodice and skirt attached at waistline.  I still need to stitch the upper edge of the waistline to allow for the insertion of the elastic.

The upper bodice was underlined and the skirt I just attached lining at waist edge.  My intent is to have this finished tomorrow; hoping that I can find a belt buckle locally-keeping my fingers crossed.

I am thinking about making one more dress using the Vogue pattern I used for this dress. 

I am planning to get a jump start on some fall sewing.  I am certainly not ready for it; yet, I am always behind on having some transitional garments made. I plan to work on this by putting aside some fabric that I did and will not get around to for summer sewing.

More spring fabric plans

The left photo is two knit fabrics; I have way more knits but I pulled these two for my first spring sewing projects. One is brown and orange; the other is black and red. Both came from Fabric.com

The middle photo is greens for spring. The bottom fabric will definitely become a Chanel type jacket. The middle fabric I used previously for a Simplicity dress, with this fabric as the dress bodice with ruffles. This fabric came from a eBay seller. The other "fruit" fabric is a cotton stretch and I think I acquired this from Fabric Mart. It was also available on another site called "Sew It Up".

The final photo is yellow/gold/orange colors. Again there are fabrics acquired from one to six years ago. They include purchases from EOS, Fabric Mart, Les Fabrique in Charlottesville, VA, Fashionista Fabrics and Hancocks.

Thinking about spring

This is the time of year I put away the wools and heavier fabrics that I pulled for winter sewing. I began pulling fabrics from my collection of what I am going to consider sewing for spring and summer.

The photo on the left are neutral fabrics. All have been in my stash from one year to over 10 years. The bottom two came from Hancock's. The third from the bottom was acquired from Gorgeous Fabrics. The third from the top is a beautiful rayon fabric purchased from Textile Studios. The very top fabric I acquired while living in Florida and attending the National ASG meeting in Orlando.

The teals included fabrics from Vogue Fabrics purchased years ago. The second from the bottom actually came from Walmart. A very nice faux linen. The top fabric I believe came from Fabri.com and is a cotton Lycra blend.

The third photo is the pinks and lavender shades. The bottom fabric was another purchase from Textile Studios. Two fabrics came from EOS and the fuchsia pink and black fabric came from a fabric store in Hampton Roads, VA.

Vogue Patterns Magazine

I got my Vogue Patterns Magazine earlier this week. The focus is on fall clothing. I am just not ready for fall! I also got a new Nordstroms' catalog yesterday and the focus is on fall. I got my Vogue Fabric Swatch packet also and the fabrics are for seasonal transition. Perhaps there is a hint that we should be starting our fall sewing.

As usual I have not tackled all the summer sewing yet and will continue to move forward on a few more summer sewing projects. Next up is skirts and blouse/tops.
