I have been working on this project since July 30. Today, I finally finished it. It has been a stop-and-go project. The sewjo comes and goes.</p><p>I used the stash fabric of scuba knit I purchased from Mood in 2015. I call it scuba knit yet Mood's label said neoprene. I think that they are similar.</p><p>Here is a pic of the completed top. The plan is to take more pics of this with me wearing it. I have another top that I want to take pictures of me wearing. I mentioned doing this in a previous post.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO0hAOlQmgoMTRX8FFbkZaXtIwVz_n62-5g35McUCSpFFZvlEvBrhhfW9bZfR-YbyIwAzIp8B1W19FSPZbyYC88PbRGZgKerM2qsTpmJa7eD7gLHb3-6b4A-R9JvBTh_4iOYQXOEo59oWxtSQGRpIakbBRFvp6eqpAkzZQK1HkEQ-vCH9A7A/s1498/Butterfly%20scuba%20top.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1352" data-original-width="1498" height="361" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO0hAOlQmgoMTRX8FFbkZaXtIwVz_n62-5g35McUCSpFFZvlEvBrhhfW9bZfR-YbyIwAzIp8B1W19FSPZbyYC88PbRGZgKerM2qsTpmJa7eD7gLHb3-6b4A-R9JvBTh_4iOYQXOEo59oWxtSQGRpIakbBRFvp6eqpAkzZQK1HkEQ-vCH9A7A/w400-h361/Butterfly%20scuba%20top.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Pattern Review is having a fabric stash contest and as I complete future projects, I will use my fabric stash. With inflation, I have cut back on fabric buying and I have 4 large containers of fabric so I really don't need to buy more fabric.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Not sure what's next. The fabric I used was one I had purchased several years ago. I have looked through all my fabric pics from 2010 to the present and for whatever reason, I do not have this fabric in any of the albums. It is navy blue french terry with red lips.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I wanted this fabric because I had seen a DVF wrap dress which too was navy blue with red lips. I had about four yards of this fabric.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Unfortunately, I had issues with this fabric and the view I selected. There is a lot of gathering and this fabric did not do well. Even the sleeves with this one just did not look like the models. Perhaps a non-french terry knit would have been better. I am so flummoxed over this that I turned it into a wadder.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpTtJnci-54iuoVDEAsk8nVNbMTMgWXeSGlf7R3eM6hOSW2aafPEEWIXQhjwhDooX-czfcG85zAWvdbCDVMb-mUTua31B7gMYoBO9So5MsuwLBWU1kghSZScahaxtOKMlXUVFYfJ9a6ZKYSFF2cb_-7gnCiOB9ZbEo2w0jezKx9qV-_4fFSw/s2145/Wadder%201.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1609" data-original-width="2145" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpTtJnci-54iuoVDEAsk8nVNbMTMgWXeSGlf7R3eM6hOSW2aafPEEWIXQhjwhDooX-czfcG85zAWvdbCDVMb-mUTua31B7gMYoBO9So5MsuwLBWU1kghSZScahaxtOKMlXUVFYfJ9a6ZKYSFF2cb_-7gnCiOB9ZbEo2w0jezKx9qV-_4fFSw/s320/Wadder%201.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtcgAWPIz_YTPy909wyb3kdjd8CMDA7gaBnYrYXd34sGuJeZzEvTtNlxQByrKXiOcKZS3dvzxqrEHNi-C7BhQTCMmJ9ZYrE7s50BCQsqWODIIbYvPYhVSnaZJ-__ozNJ-yx8Z3_ZutG5g3yjMJyfY_f4KYJTI1mfMHDlOEZwTf0xAf0qKNaQ/s1758/Wadder%202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1590" data-original-width="1758" height="289" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtcgAWPIz_YTPy909wyb3kdjd8CMDA7gaBnYrYXd34sGuJeZzEvTtNlxQByrKXiOcKZS3dvzxqrEHNi-C7BhQTCMmJ9ZYrE7s50BCQsqWODIIbYvPYhVSnaZJ-__ozNJ-yx8Z3_ZutG5g3yjMJyfY_f4KYJTI1mfMHDlOEZwTf0xAf0qKNaQ/s320/Wadder%202.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I am glad I have quite a bit of this fabric left over. It is not only the pattern; my fabric choice and colors are disappointing as well. The style was not flattering.</p><p>The pattern provided a range of sizes and I selected the sizes that I normally would use with other patterns. This ended up with a fit that was way too large for me. There was no information about ease which in my opinion is critical for a pattern style like this and many other indie patterns provide this.</p><p>It calls for a 1/4 inch seam allowance which was not a deal-breaker when purchasing the pattern but I am not fond of 1/4 inch seam allowance. I prefer 3/8 to 5/8 inches. In the end with the overly large fit, I ended up taking a 5/8 inch seam allowance for side seams.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRH6Ho3ULIu3x25GDreMNtGxN7zwq4LRCsXMzBZIBSX4doZLCL-H2P5HiMr4WwJ1ZTTHx19NWGlIfM9rwdfTt6X1phmpmOuLPC4bm8puQNsdiPIJAbK-Nggfm4Z-u8ONaS8tX9wQ4KZ39oeWsItqLwZpCfFxjyJzn08e4udhhR0umBRg2NSw/s1585/Florence%20top%20front%202.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1585" data-original-width="1248" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRH6Ho3ULIu3x25GDreMNtGxN7zwq4LRCsXMzBZIBSX4doZLCL-H2P5HiMr4WwJ1ZTTHx19NWGlIfM9rwdfTt6X1phmpmOuLPC4bm8puQNsdiPIJAbK-Nggfm4Z-u8ONaS8tX9wQ4KZ39oeWsItqLwZpCfFxjyJzn08e4udhhR0umBRg2NSw/s320/Florence%20top%20front%202.jpg" width="252" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Front view-a pregnant look not for an older woman.<br /><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div></td></tr></tbody></table>The bodice has princess seams which I took an additional 3/8 inch after attaching to the peplum. I cut off 3/8 inches at the shoulder before inserting the sleeves.<div><br /></div><div>With all the handling the neckline stretched out. My fault as I should have stayed stitched or used fusible knit seam tape to prevent this.</div><div><br /></div><div>I normally do not wear these colors, yet I was drawn to the fabric when purchased. Not my best fabric decision.</div><div><br /></div><div>Other adjustments made before sewing were lengthening the bodice as the bust area would have been right up against the boobs. The gathered skirt had no pattern piece but the information was provided on how wide and length the skirt should be cut. I shortened the skirt length by 1 inch. I did my usual upper back adjustment and raised the front neckline by 1 1/2 inches.</div><div><br /></div><div>After all, was sewn together, I almost decided to donate to charity or simply wad it up. I decided that I can wear this at home when doing chores around the house. I did a short serge stitch for the sleeve and bottom hems.<br /><div> </div><div>Here are two more pics of this top. I normally I do not go for pastel colors, much less pink fabrics. My white/gray hair and light skin may prove this will wash me out even more. Nonetheless, I liked it.<p></p><p>I have finally completed the bodice part. To me, the sizing ran large. In the end, I used sizes medium, large and extra-large. I raised the front neckline about two inches and I am glad I did as the neckline is defined as square neck scooped. Too scooped for me and not as squared as I thought. I found the shoulders rather long and after trimming I think they are close to the medium size.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3tquk0btzMiplq70wafC3Obcz-jo7x175gCMK8wJsNogqM5Vg8tN5FTLeRSKqR2cgDzQnY1zUlKDfI52z47A3TAnfpv6ZmQIP08Q2SLb4FzSY1zC1n-cM7ZSp_fWIxjTa_3-JBl0XC5LReRMTXMT5D1IWwVz5vE-gnz8l_Q59OTicI1_dNA/s1845/Florence%20bodicewip.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1445" data-original-width="1845" height="251" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3tquk0btzMiplq70wafC3Obcz-jo7x175gCMK8wJsNogqM5Vg8tN5FTLeRSKqR2cgDzQnY1zUlKDfI52z47A3TAnfpv6ZmQIP08Q2SLb4FzSY1zC1n-cM7ZSp_fWIxjTa_3-JBl0XC5LReRMTXMT5D1IWwVz5vE-gnz8l_Q59OTicI1_dNA/s320/Florence%20bodicewip.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Bodice WIP.<br /><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div></td></tr></tbody></table>I chose the flutter sleeve; there are various sleeve lengths and options. The last item I sewed was a robe for our trip we took in early April. We had a great time visiting family and friends. I almost find I am a little homesick.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: helvetica;">With inflation and the rise and fall of the stock market, my husband's increase in medication costs has taken a bite out of our financial situation. I have refrained from buying fabric, I don't really need more, but I do still want some new pieces. I have purchased a couple of patterns from Itch to Stich and recently one from So Sew English.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: helvetica;">I am actually starting to get the urge to sew. I am now working on the SSE pattern, Florence top, and dress. I have some difficulty with getting the right size printed and printed the bodice piece twice. I am between so many sizes and using their sizing guide helps but it was too big in some areas and just right in others. Every indie pattern company has differing sizes plus most are designed for a much taller person than I.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: helvetica;">I was surprised to see I have not posted anything since March. I had planned to post about the robe and will do that in the near future. The near future may mean more than a couple of days or weeks.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: helvetica;">More later!</span></p><p><span style="font-family: helvetica;"><br /></span></p>Linda Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655695696943452993noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18711912.post-12386529400054412082022-03-07T18:36:00.000-05:002022-03-07T18:36:00.481-05:00Simplicity 9384-just pics<p> <table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhBlThFFiWmoo1MCZxqnh7GwBl4Rrwrb2ZyXoL9uTm0GahdPY1bYzs6CLV20-tW7o9WSvbTFHwsCtpFxuCPUHewl6FqMuUG1Z6oAAms5rSgGKWVNYdofXCaa7te1BtruREYSW8U25clqr5BjZlratGdV3j0yLG2q9_P_xaw9eNZOhUEKFrBgg=s1344" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="916" data-original-width="1344" height="218" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhBlThFFiWmoo1MCZxqnh7GwBl4Rrwrb2ZyXoL9uTm0GahdPY1bYzs6CLV20-tW7o9WSvbTFHwsCtpFxuCPUHewl6FqMuUG1Z6oAAms5rSgGKWVNYdofXCaa7te1BtruREYSW8U25clqr5BjZlratGdV3j0yLG2q9_P_xaw9eNZOhUEKFrBgg=s320" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Close up of front and pleats<br /><br /><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiemNxZTSOfekZYPARJMGBGP-blvJEyVdy2JyufXLfJvHPVfTjXEUTg7yedl6-6c9IEQVrGvvlZLxbCjtTc2CaEmzh7iNK7z__bx46uPgT0xpfHLwu1CBKMP-RQ2ygZo_bHuliN_2r3N1flb9S5URAmgWxLC5srJuOy65kLADk--Zgna2QVEA=s1482" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1482" data-original-width="1350" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiemNxZTSOfekZYPARJMGBGP-blvJEyVdy2JyufXLfJvHPVfTjXEUTg7yedl6-6c9IEQVrGvvlZLxbCjtTc2CaEmzh7iNK7z__bx46uPgT0xpfHLwu1CBKMP-RQ2ygZo_bHuliN_2r3N1flb9S5URAmgWxLC5srJuOy65kLADk--Zgna2QVEA=s320" width="291" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Front View</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><br /><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjuEv6DshovgehIxh1E1BnY6nt-dd60RGlkHz3y9cZBxTDLXuZuESDPq21K6v3OPPwpeHogfBrtOe4QCZy4YWye6kxbEg4kg84OKf5G533G8o7L4ehhAO_jUHkHCKZIdTynnERV4OixzUU96wF2TKnbPSZaC4w6HEjAYSWS57GPXzqwM8mPmg=s1546" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1546" data-original-width="1140" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjuEv6DshovgehIxh1E1BnY6nt-dd60RGlkHz3y9cZBxTDLXuZuESDPq21K6v3OPPwpeHogfBrtOe4QCZy4YWye6kxbEg4kg84OKf5G533G8o7L4ehhAO_jUHkHCKZIdTynnERV4OixzUU96wF2TKnbPSZaC4w6HEjAYSWS57GPXzqwM8mPmg=s320" width="236" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Back View<br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br /><br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhhRl15p2JdArXslRmjwIPXN54ZfZOMufYVA-4oEn4VstIL1dX12HBfKBP7fvr8tRDPdFojvhApNlL_B8eg8737z83YojqNmA9nOI4m-tYJIRl98oMk8RVe7egVq-v2rwWykrgzeLQCFy1ca0h-G_kp8YVfm7k-n0NJS8p7-TI0nt04oNsa6A=s1385" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1385" data-original-width="1183" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhhRl15p2JdArXslRmjwIPXN54ZfZOMufYVA-4oEn4VstIL1dX12HBfKBP7fvr8tRDPdFojvhApNlL_B8eg8737z83YojqNmA9nOI4m-tYJIRl98oMk8RVe7egVq-v2rwWykrgzeLQCFy1ca0h-G_kp8YVfm7k-n0NJS8p7-TI0nt04oNsa6A=s320" width="273" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Side View<br /><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br />Linda Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655695696943452993noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18711912.post-22461372432100730172022-03-01T09:48:00.001-05:002022-03-01T09:48:51.644-05:00No pics for now just words<p> I finally completed<a href="https://www.simplicity.com/simplicity-storefront-catalog/patterns/brands/simplicity-sewing-pattern-s9384-misses-sweatshirts/" target="_blank"> Simplicity 9384.</a> I like the pattern and will sew it again. I am not sure that the fabric I used was the right choice. It met the stretch requirements and it is a double knit which was a suggested fabric.</p><p>Some fitting adjustments I made during the sewing process resulted in a closer fit than I desired. I think the fabric I used did not have the drape as the model's top appears to have.</p><p>One of the rookie mistakes I made was not paying close attention to the pattern drawings. I cut View A thinking it was the same as on the model. NOT!</p><p> I followed the extensive instructions on making the pleats, which required sewing and basting. Once that was done I attached the sleeves my way, not per the instructions. This allowed me to baste the side and sleeve seam for fitting.</p><p>Standing in front of the hallway mirror, I had a moment of total disbelief. The top hung down to my knees; it looked like a huge dress, not a top. I always have to shorten the length of the Big 4 patterns and had reduced the length by 1 1/2 inches. I am saying to myself what the heck plus a few other explicative.</p><p>Back to the sewing room, I finally realized that View A was a tunic and View B fell at the hipline which was the look I was going for. For me to undo the seams that form the bodice and the pleats and the topstitching of the pleats was not going to happen. The difference between the two lengths measured 6 inches. So I measured and marked six inches from the bottom and cut with a rotary cutter and scissors.</p><p>I could go on and on with other fitting issues and rookie things I did to fix things. I'll save those for the review of the pattern. </p><p> One positive to add to this post is that my new sewing machine did very well for this project. YEAH!. For the price I paid I think I got a very durable machine. The fabric was thick in places and handled it very well. The topstitching foot worked perfectly. </p><p>More info to follow with pics!</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>Linda Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655695696943452993noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18711912.post-62285106466448580702022-02-20T17:51:00.000-05:002022-02-20T17:51:25.874-05:00Singer and Simplicity<p> Here is a quick peek at my current project that is taking me forever to complete.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjVyypsxyyxT8HkbH9YPyeW5N30DbbPUSz8Gk9g5A6E7m18LwJLRMV66aHNzre77hX-5gnMfMFQjx5B7xJ16S5Hi015d9Rqvy1nWsWACUre916HTMlOaFSaGndM46ViT7RCMSgOTF8Ogmyu1AJxTlF3g7iNp6CZnC8Wp1sdaT6oZwGYb1CM5g=s1765" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1703" data-original-width="1765" height="309" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjVyypsxyyxT8HkbH9YPyeW5N30DbbPUSz8Gk9g5A6E7m18LwJLRMV66aHNzre77hX-5gnMfMFQjx5B7xJ16S5Hi015d9Rqvy1nWsWACUre916HTMlOaFSaGndM46ViT7RCMSgOTF8Ogmyu1AJxTlF3g7iNp6CZnC8Wp1sdaT6oZwGYb1CM5g=s320" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p> I really made some rookie mistakes and I think that I was just in a hurry to sew something. This is<a href="https://www.simplicity.com/simplicity-storefront-catalog/patterns/brands/simplicity-sewing-pattern-s9384-misses-sweatshirts/" target="_blank"> Simplicity 9384</a>. I am using this fabric, purchased in 2014 from <a href="https://stores.smfabric.com/its-on-sale/" target="_blank">Sew Much Fabric</a>. This is a double knit and I remember seeing so many people making garments from it and of course I jumped on that buying spree. Obviously, I did not make what I had planned which was a dress for work. Don't need dresses so it becomes a top without the hoodie. I will share more about my sewing issues with this project.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhdRE5Ekwx2wLh9jvvHR1tjszzdWyq_Hc3j6EN-gEtIjfRdFwWRRvIpyLYfmjqbp0SQgrf1RAtFVemBO5afemWByRCQh0DVW2dvNiyV0P9xmawm6jNMnhZ5R6pL5jMb5JTPPJ60yLpzop4nhKNtwwzzHlvFCwXCX-7qhxEPvMHgD1QSG3Xorg=s2560" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="2560" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhdRE5Ekwx2wLh9jvvHR1tjszzdWyq_Hc3j6EN-gEtIjfRdFwWRRvIpyLYfmjqbp0SQgrf1RAtFVemBO5afemWByRCQh0DVW2dvNiyV0P9xmawm6jNMnhZ5R6pL5jMb5JTPPJ60yLpzop4nhKNtwwzzHlvFCwXCX-7qhxEPvMHgD1QSG3Xorg=s320" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div><br /><p>I wanted to give a brief update on using my new Singer sewing machine, Quantum Stylist 9960 for this project.</p><p>The machine is a quiet one and the stitches sewed great on this heavier, hefty fabric. The machine is computerized yet there are buttons to push to make changes to the stitch being used. With my touchscreen machine that died, I find I want to touch the screen but that is not how it works. There are numerous buttons and they have various purposes, so I am having to refer to the manual to make sure I am using the right button.</p><p>One feature I love is the automatic thread cutting. There is a button with a scissor above it. When you stop sewing and are ready to remove the fabric, click that button and it cuts both top and bottom threads. I am beginning to use that frequently. It saves some sewing time. </p><p>The extension table that came with the machine works great and is much needed for sewing fabric. The light is bright. And I had a standing floor lamp that became the standing sewing light because you need good lighting and my other light is placed near the serger and cover stitch machines.</p><p>The only negative for me is the basting stitch. It requires lowering the feed dogs and using a darning foot. You sew a stitch then you have to move the fabric before it makes another stitch. I am getting a rhythm with this but I am not fond of it. </p><p>I knew when I purchased it that it was not one of the high-end machines yet it is doing well so far with sewing a hefty fabric with great stitches.</p><p> My sewing room is not what I want or plan for it to be. It is workable and I was wanting to sew something as it has been a while since I sewed. I will do a post in the future of the room once I finally get rid of clutter.</p><p>More to follow about the Simplicity top soon.</p><p><br /></p>Linda Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655695696943452993noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18711912.post-20846773535850420052022-01-28T13:41:00.003-05:002022-01-28T13:41:28.542-05:00New Sewing Machine<p> My Husqvarna Designer SE died after moving. It started a slow death prior to moving and I mentioned this in my previous post.</p><p>It was a sewing and embroidery machine. I don't embroider as much as I did once so decided I did not need a combo machine. I have a Singer stand-alone embroidery machine; should I decide to embroider something; it is simple but provides a nice embroidered item.</p><p>Lots of photos follow of my new sewing machine that fits my current budget. I purchased a Singer Quantum Stylist 9960. The Singer sewing machine was my first that my Grandmother bought for me back in the early '70s.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj_wBgwAh6sh7MFxncjq3a9VxaAmaSnlGLbUFJO87xTLSh38hZnfYXtFWwizkfI7r2DHe5iFRZoTlUIriXUk2mNrn-GtO_7BNqN326glWjl7_jIujoBcyVtdRMLAU2sRLoYAMmlNqeMncUA9tXPnp_8j_ML_xrpNfrK5N18-_300y4htFcwjw=s1883" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1225" data-original-width="1883" height="208" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj_wBgwAh6sh7MFxncjq3a9VxaAmaSnlGLbUFJO87xTLSh38hZnfYXtFWwizkfI7r2DHe5iFRZoTlUIriXUk2mNrn-GtO_7BNqN326glWjl7_jIujoBcyVtdRMLAU2sRLoYAMmlNqeMncUA9tXPnp_8j_ML_xrpNfrK5N18-_300y4htFcwjw=s320" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhJlFuvSw6eA9zR7nZ3FSxizIWjoXeYDzaCdxenJV0heMyFIWZaKSsY21nltgi4Wgev6mQBGlCzrltfdl92Dq6jnSJj3-n3tJFtqxRI7faN_udHa7Bk2U4fstQiqjHk_KMQ5ubNXjyq2Os1PlOXhvvaEe9VmoqSMKr_kDVtGIpxcaeM4mhGyw=s2073" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1340" data-original-width="2073" height="207" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhJlFuvSw6eA9zR7nZ3FSxizIWjoXeYDzaCdxenJV0heMyFIWZaKSsY21nltgi4Wgev6mQBGlCzrltfdl92Dq6jnSJj3-n3tJFtqxRI7faN_udHa7Bk2U4fstQiqjHk_KMQ5ubNXjyq2Os1PlOXhvvaEe9VmoqSMKr_kDVtGIpxcaeM4mhGyw=s320" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>A local dealer sells Brothers and I was not interested. I looked at Baby Lock as well as Husqvarna websites and both websites were not showing much in the way of machines that appealed to me or fit my budget. Actually, Baby Lock seemed to have no sewing machines on the website. I also thought about Janome as well as Singer. Husqvarna's Jade was another machine considered but it wasn't appealing style-wise and had limited feet.</p><p>The one that fit my budget was the Singer model. The challenge with the button is learning what to touch first and the included manual is well designed and easy to follow on steps needed. I like the touch screen better but had to trade-off that for price. We physically moved on Nov 30. I had to finish cleaning up the house we moved from so the seller could move forward with selling the house. I also was unpacking boxes at the new home. DH was cutting up the boxes to take to recycle center.</p><p>Let me say that this was very stressful with constantly going back and forth. The Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year holidays were very low key and the focus continued on setting up the new home. </p><p>Then I had to deal with Omnicron which thankfully was more like having a cold but the fatigue and backache were brutal. Of course, my DH got it next. Thankfully we both had our vaccine shots plus booster which proved to be, I think, the reason for the mildness of this virus version.</p><p>I am still unpacking my office/sewing room. This has proved to be more challenging as this room is smaller than my previous room. It has taught me that I really have held on to too much "stuff" that can and has been eliminated. Yet I still have more.</p><p>On top of this my Husgavarna Designer 1 bit the dust. Prior to the move, when I would go to turn on the machine, it would flicker. I then would shut it off and then turn it back on and it worked. Last week this solution proved ineffective. The cost of having it repaired was more than I wanted to deal with. I decided that the bells and whistles on this machine were more than I ever used and decided to downsize. </p><p>I remember when I purchased the Designer 1 it was close to $5k which seemed rather high and I could afford it as I was still working. Checking the prices of top-of-line machines today was an eye-opener. Way too much for my retirement living.</p><p>I have found a machine that is affordable and I read many reviews with most being very positive. I will take about my new machine in another post soon.</p><p>I will close this post with pics of my move-in room with all the clutter. I have made more progress and will post that in the near future.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiOTs1fhWivW6SsyjqZ9TTl201W5z8gujRQf_jUOQYUUguXIdIxD9Up6NQNE1WDStOPFq-lBudTjV53FsKeMaKqs--oAuH1jO0wPsdZDkPW44bsuHVwLwb7i10_dkKNLkZt1cdd4LKzYJcf4LXMbXOAREHKtEGzRXeHm12u4WxejYwoANcTLg=s1998" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1202" data-original-width="1998" height="193" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiOTs1fhWivW6SsyjqZ9TTl201W5z8gujRQf_jUOQYUUguXIdIxD9Up6NQNE1WDStOPFq-lBudTjV53FsKeMaKqs--oAuH1jO0wPsdZDkPW44bsuHVwLwb7i10_dkKNLkZt1cdd4LKzYJcf4LXMbXOAREHKtEGzRXeHm12u4WxejYwoANcTLg=s320" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjVYNvqPsv_-ZCWbCoVRMAoveeTT42noo8MjGRaROxFXpfJi4D4Qb0d_sVAK2wCdjyrgWsmm7VHmesioRq5u3mX7r0IahW5E8MWmCFPXihWIxKigaF-JdHQPdVuabW4fe5L56B_qSR125bq8ixzerhNYdZWv6Nm-_9rgw0EaWZNUseYYSbvHQ=s1997" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1497" data-original-width="1997" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjVYNvqPsv_-ZCWbCoVRMAoveeTT42noo8MjGRaROxFXpfJi4D4Qb0d_sVAK2wCdjyrgWsmm7VHmesioRq5u3mX7r0IahW5E8MWmCFPXihWIxKigaF-JdHQPdVuabW4fe5L56B_qSR125bq8ixzerhNYdZWv6Nm-_9rgw0EaWZNUseYYSbvHQ=s320" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Linda Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655695696943452993noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18711912.post-34852392777223353702021-11-19T09:29:00.005-05:002021-11-19T09:29:53.232-05:00Moving<p> I am in the process of moving! Zero time to sew! Hopefully back in December.</p>Linda Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655695696943452993noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18711912.post-19576138398840272912021-10-18T16:50:00.004-04:002021-10-18T16:50:51.547-04:00Oh No!<p> Yesterday, I spent most of the day working on my second Laundry Day Tee. I was applying the neckband and things went wonky from there. I realized that my stitches were not sewing at the length I had set. The neckband itself was behaving poorly.</p><p>When I go through with this, it was a hot mess. One thing I hate is removing neckbands in some knit fabrics as there is a disaster waiting to happen. Because the stitch length was not correct, it was a bear to remove the stitches and of course, I ended up with holes in the front bodice.</p><p>I finally was able to get the neckband off, but it was a hot mess. I am going to try to save the neckline. I have enough fabric left over to make a cowl neck hoping this will salvage the top. I am sick to my stomach because to me this is a gorgeous fabric, the quality and the colors.</p><p>I have had some issues with my machine recently; when I turn it on lights flicker and does not startup. I have unplugged it and then plugged it back in, it then works. I am not sure if this is an electrical issue or something is about to crash with the machine. I purchased it new in 2015 and had it serviced once for some updates.</p><p>Even with this situation, it is nice to be sewing again!</p>Linda Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655695696943452993noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18711912.post-29783678229769445662021-10-04T17:39:00.003-04:002021-10-04T17:39:26.693-04:00Back to the sewing room!<p> I made it back to my sewing room! Slowly I have been reprinting, taping, and tracing another Laundry Day pattern. This one will not be a tunic as I wanted to make the shirt length with this one.</p><p>I made adjustments that are my usual now:</p><p></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Upper round back adjustment of 5/8 inches</li><li>Swayback adjustment of 3/4 inches-this was what I ended up doing with the first one</li><li>One inch FBA</li><li>5/8 forward shoulder adjustment</li><li>Shortened length by 1 inch</li></ul>Today I cut out the fabric and took a few pics to post my current progress.<div><br /></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpDo15uGULORZM_5JwM4PRCHgn55y7nWTPX-sgu_UOKohxaIPbAK8nKAGZmc4RVHfjMrftmXgIO5pXfphra21WMa6hgv8K36LgZNyxMm7qlWMDv4Z-tnOgKAYz7IWpE1dXSMeI/s1702/LD2+FBA.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1702" data-original-width="1696" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpDo15uGULORZM_5JwM4PRCHgn55y7nWTPX-sgu_UOKohxaIPbAK8nKAGZmc4RVHfjMrftmXgIO5pXfphra21WMa6hgv8K36LgZNyxMm7qlWMDv4Z-tnOgKAYz7IWpE1dXSMeI/s320/LD2+FBA.jpg" width="319" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">FBA -1 inch</td></tr></tbody></table>I used Maria Denmark's version of FBA without adding a dart. I am just not feeling it. The fabric is just not right for this pattern. Every time I walked into my sewing room, I just could not bring myself to work on it. I always felt I should finish what I started sewing; and when I do this, I get to the point where I am hating the project, get it completed and I don't like the end product.</p><p>Life is just too short for me to continue down that path. I may go back to it and may not. I really need a different fabric for this to be successful.</p><p>So I am reviewing patterns that I have been wanting to sew plus looking at some new indie patterns recently purchased.</p><p>Not sure what it will be and have decided on two fabrics that I will use.</p><p>I recently purchased two patterns from Something Delightful both McCalls. I also purchased a New Look pattern at Hobby Lobby.</p><p>McCall's patterns are <a href="https://somethingdelightful.com/m7808" target="_blank">7808</a> and <a href="https://somethingdelightful.com/m8097" target="_blank">8097</a>. For 7808 I am more interested in View D &E; for 8097 I plan to make View B. New Look <a href="https://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/85275" target="_blank">6511</a> is for tops and I was wanting to make View C with View B sleeves or stay with sleeveless. This may end up being made next spring. This pattern appears to be OOP but available on eBay and may still be at Hobby Lobby.</p><p>I also purchased a pastel pink/gray fabric from So Sew English. Pastel fabrics don't normally interest me but I was drawn to this fabric. I like SSE fabrics, they are of good quality, shipping is somewhat slow but worth it for the quality. This was going to be a layered dress, though I may change my mind.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIYsqS0m4lVhslJK6bX_YtxG2Ic_JkC-rE-HYndikHX35UrQHXYlc8MAfJky1eiWNsj-xBAMiAjLOEVtTDR4IdIfsXS5pBW_06QcbyoOGhJJr3_dwDpyTFxwMckTdc8HT-wpNl/s2048/PastelPatch+knitSSEAug21.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1283" data-original-width="2048" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIYsqS0m4lVhslJK6bX_YtxG2Ic_JkC-rE-HYndikHX35UrQHXYlc8MAfJky1eiWNsj-xBAMiAjLOEVtTDR4IdIfsXS5pBW_06QcbyoOGhJJr3_dwDpyTFxwMckTdc8HT-wpNl/s320/PastelPatch+knitSSEAug21.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>That's it for now.</p>Linda Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655695696943452993noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18711912.post-33401398281044286822021-08-21T16:41:00.030-04:002021-08-22T10:07:19.427-04:00Actually sewing!<p> Today, I decided to work on Simplicity 8416. I had started on this a few weeks ago. We then took some travel time to see family and friends. Since returning I have been working on the clutter in the sewing room and purging patterns to sell on eBay. Those that don't sell after a few listings go to charity.</p><p>I have made some headway on cleaning. I wanted to sew and thus I began again to work on this shirt. This too will help with getting clutter on top of the cutting table put away or used.</p><p>I needed to take a break after sewing for a while. I took time to snap a few shots and thought I would post work in progress. The challis fabric is from Sly Fox Fabrics and the pattern I purchased on eBay.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHtgSS48JJPCIOxRlAcmuwP3j6pXUZmKfH9K_r7JHoot6WL8x-D_fn9M1k1LhsMO93Wb68zfEjX279Xba9shNzBhlQ67ToZQqTHg9Ot-F-jfBqAJPzgds9Vw6_oPTreWysQXJr/s1815/S8416+FabricSlyFox.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1606" data-original-width="1815" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHtgSS48JJPCIOxRlAcmuwP3j6pXUZmKfH9K_r7JHoot6WL8x-D_fn9M1k1LhsMO93Wb68zfEjX279Xba9shNzBhlQ67ToZQqTHg9Ot-F-jfBqAJPzgds9Vw6_oPTreWysQXJr/s320/S8416+FabricSlyFox.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I am making View A</td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYS1QYET8A3XLnYT1dm0YvRlrmzev1tTkEbE4_WZfA2tRYV1gi4zyq7u3wURYBY1tg3X_4DjBxy2L7yWPhbxJ2RpxfzKD1nNjbPQGhEK4NLPI1FfTOZvmPLYqMyf-Z-68X45LT/s1702/S8416+in+progress.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1702" data-original-width="1550" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYS1QYET8A3XLnYT1dm0YvRlrmzev1tTkEbE4_WZfA2tRYV1gi4zyq7u3wURYBY1tg3X_4DjBxy2L7yWPhbxJ2RpxfzKD1nNjbPQGhEK4NLPI1FfTOZvmPLYqMyf-Z-68X45LT/s320/S8416+in+progress.jpg" width="291" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Front and back attached to the yoke</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRxSDTDr2Bu9RV7Scoc_-0bmzUS1x_WUErVTi-tdm6AUOge61Psq_kiUNETVDOKbWRl8b43Pq-bpH_L4b-tz9IW-MTXPfndcGMUFGUCQx05D_DQZAocuOL9MBdRGAvMMGy24jG/s2048/S8416+yoke-burrito.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRxSDTDr2Bu9RV7Scoc_-0bmzUS1x_WUErVTi-tdm6AUOge61Psq_kiUNETVDOKbWRl8b43Pq-bpH_L4b-tz9IW-MTXPfndcGMUFGUCQx05D_DQZAocuOL9MBdRGAvMMGy24jG/s320/S8416+yoke-burrito.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Yoke inside. My sewjo comes and goes. All fitting adjustments have been made; sewn the bust darts. Started working on one of the front button plackets.</p><p>Spent time visiting family and friends in my hometown of Danville, VA, and just returned on August 1. We stayed with a longtime friend and were able to visit with my sister-in-law. It was a good visit with her as she lost her husband in December to Covid. We were unable to go to the funeral. This is our first trip since December 2019. Planning more as the year progresses.</p><p>I must and need to work on my sewing room. There is too much clutter that is sewing and non-sewing related laying around the room. This is adding to my lowered sewjo as well. I just have too much for less room.</p><p>More later!</p>Linda Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655695696943452993noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18711912.post-18358743054714704502021-07-10T11:33:00.002-04:002021-07-10T11:33:59.444-04:00Thanks for your help!<p> I appreciate your comments for assistance. The pictures were taken after wearing. A black top with black shorts does not photograph well. Here is the back view; and you can see the sleeve pleats a little better in this picture.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyxegj9Pp1_QHi3YVyCjCf6j5pU-7lUKA7ICE_8pbbNodn3FE9JDnMjsRcuqSV8McgdGda66LYTWOAFnvXq7q0XcYIaqBDEI65pTLTpUl9sqL7cLYQjNRnGOvXJQ7FiSB8H5fP/s1025/S9273+Back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1025" data-original-width="733" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyxegj9Pp1_QHi3YVyCjCf6j5pU-7lUKA7ICE_8pbbNodn3FE9JDnMjsRcuqSV8McgdGda66LYTWOAFnvXq7q0XcYIaqBDEI65pTLTpUl9sqL7cLYQjNRnGOvXJQ7FiSB8H5fP/s320/S9273+Back.jpg" /></a></div><br /> <p></p><p>I liked the comfortable feeling of this top. I still struggle with fitting issues with many Simplicity patterns. I went with 12 for the upper chest, shoulders, and neckline. Tapering to 14 from bust to hip.</p><p>I made several fitting adjustments prior to cutting out the fabric and during the sewing/fitting phase. My usual 5/8 forward shoulder adjustment, 5/8 high back adjustment, 5/8 swayback adjustment, and 1inch FBA. I did not sew the resulting dart.</p><p>The black fabric had both vertical and horizontal stretch. I ended up raising the shoulder seam for the front shoulder midway of shoulder to top of arm area by an extra 1/4 inch; The vertical fabric stretch made the underarm area too long. Next time with this and probably other Simplicity patterns, I will need to make a 3/8 upper chest vertical tuck to the pattern to get a better fit in the underarm area.</p><p>I decided to cut the neckband on the bias to add interest using the striped fabric. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIrhE4vvGgPQfLZjAOt6SOFuDU3ow0xfWBN80I2VPxMwrYVsmrnVLym79PDgIjVB0Bi_F3oVRkLA7FYc200Dfprcnl1OEl-3cTeYHY-GlxkpHVgUIscbnz2HKAiIKNXf9D60WF/s1375/S9273+Front+hanging.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1375" data-original-width="1375" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIrhE4vvGgPQfLZjAOt6SOFuDU3ow0xfWBN80I2VPxMwrYVsmrnVLym79PDgIjVB0Bi_F3oVRkLA7FYc200Dfprcnl1OEl-3cTeYHY-GlxkpHVgUIscbnz2HKAiIKNXf9D60WF/s320/S9273+Front+hanging.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>I decided to use the striped fabric for the neckband and sleeve as my previous fabric choice was too heavy for the black crepe knit. Unfortunately, the pleated sleeve does not show the pleats as much as I wanted. The drawing of the pleated sleeve view makes one think the pleats will be rather full. The striped fabric has some heft to it but not enough to make the pleats fuller and noticeable.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYm5AC3FyltRmt0SdaNdTF19ZdGN-BCDUuK9CQWrVAW0VRB60O9TVfWwVRYEcPLGkry0sqdqOfJT-s8OEbRXlOfN0g8PdXAWrGYxF8IVcKKBszucxkTmqjhZ63TQXKXIUQpJ1u/s1226/S9273+Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1226" data-original-width="927" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYm5AC3FyltRmt0SdaNdTF19ZdGN-BCDUuK9CQWrVAW0VRB60O9TVfWwVRYEcPLGkry0sqdqOfJT-s8OEbRXlOfN0g8PdXAWrGYxF8IVcKKBszucxkTmqjhZ63TQXKXIUQpJ1u/s320/S9273+Front.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq3sETkpu8J1Ad5OvUIs_UxtivwjuyQF3ohpDhP2UradZ_4y4CpQiqNIvzxTnUksurjFN_ih-TwJMkQ7ypxb3A72VSgIToX88vsVYWUThjBqq8Z4WpkjWADgqaCGampnD8CLQO/s1358/S9273+Semiside.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1358" data-original-width="805" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq3sETkpu8J1Ad5OvUIs_UxtivwjuyQF3ohpDhP2UradZ_4y4CpQiqNIvzxTnUksurjFN_ih-TwJMkQ7ypxb3A72VSgIToX88vsVYWUThjBqq8Z4WpkjWADgqaCGampnD8CLQO/s320/S9273+Semiside.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p>The fabrics were purchased from Fabric Mart, The black striped fabric was purchased a few years ago and has been used in many projects with enough fabric still left for another project. I read several reviews on Pattern Review and posts were positive for this shirt. Some found shoulders too wide, as did I. It is a rather simple top and required some fit adjustments! I think some were required because of the stretchiness of the black crepe knit and because Simplicity patterns run large for me.</p><p>Also, the black crepe knit was rather fiddly. None the less it is complete. I took a couple of pics for a sneak peek. I will post a follow-up of the sewing journey soon and when I am wearing the top. For now, this is what I have!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yVWkLpGZbICc5huv0hxvrm_nBuxh1aUOoxdAn7ilZvOe4BCchYwqbsKzNiW_0b3WORQ9W9x5_Bo5XdKbfuTuuBo3R7oms5Dj4TW12TkkVdp51gf4QWIDRysTSmLW9i9oIxcb/s1375/S9273+Front+hanging.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1375" data-original-width="1375" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4yVWkLpGZbICc5huv0hxvrm_nBuxh1aUOoxdAn7ilZvOe4BCchYwqbsKzNiW_0b3WORQ9W9x5_Bo5XdKbfuTuuBo3R7oms5Dj4TW12TkkVdp51gf4QWIDRysTSmLW9i9oIxcb/s320/S9273+Front+hanging.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho-99iXW8wNHvEr6WEPhrDILyflKhyphenhyphenVVw-lMmaX6hah9nbjrZ_IQb5-qI6L0M8wrMcl-TFwLRfNpLfFsRjNk9XefRT_hICHQw3UWwrbF2ySPVBBpV7NDDW_zwHLDst36dFr1EE/s2048/S9273+sleeve.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEho-99iXW8wNHvEr6WEPhrDILyflKhyphenhyphenVVw-lMmaX6hah9nbjrZ_IQb5-qI6L0M8wrMcl-TFwLRfNpLfFsRjNk9XefRT_hICHQw3UWwrbF2ySPVBBpV7NDDW_zwHLDst36dFr1EE/s320/S9273+sleeve.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>Later!</p>Linda Lhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655695696943452993noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18711912.post-45528193433354761112021-06-10T11:24:00.000-04:002021-06-10T11:24:11.951-04:00Next Project, New Fabric and UFO complete<p> I am working on making Simplicity 9273.
