April Sewing

Not much going on in the way of sewing for the past week or so.  I have cut around pattern pieces for two projects I want to sew soon.  One is a Vogue dress pattern, V9022.  There are nice reviews of this pattern on Pattern Review.  I plan to use a double knit from Gorgeous Fabrics, called geranium.
I purchased this in 2012.  I pressed it this evening as I had washed it last weekend to prepare for sewing.

The other pattern I pulled out and cut around pattern pieces is a new purchase. Butterick 6175.  You can tell that this pattern is loose fitting. I may not make mine as loose.

I plan to use this fabric that I acquired from Schoolhouse Fabrics in Floyd, VA last year.  It is a Robert Kaufman polyester semi sheer fabric.

Both of these pieces make me feel like spring time!

I have so many sewing plans running through my head and need to get moving.

Saturday Sewing

DH and I spent the afternoon shopping for family and us. New sheets, comforter and a new pillow for me. Time for some spring update for the house. Bought niece some socks to go with a pair of tennis shoes we bought last weekend, an Easter present. Stopped had pizza and then came home. I was then able to have time to spend in sewing room. I worked on the McCall's top. I serge finished the front side seams. I then worked on the ruffle that is attached at the neckline.

Three skirts-30 days.

The BWOF skirt is complete! I left off the belt carriers so I don't restrict myself to wearing one size belt. I used the blind hem stitch on my sewing machine to hem the skirt and topstitched the lining hem; quicker by machine. I am glad this skirt is complete.
My plan was to have a month of skirts, thus these three were done in 30 days. The BWOF is the first completed project for 2010. From left to right:Butterick 5249 ( my third skirt from this pattern); New Look 6918 has contour waistband and skirt front overlay. I added a lining; BWOF January 2009 Skirt #112.
