Foot Magic and Patterns

The mailman delivered recent purchases.

In a previous post I mentioned Foot Magic.  This is a packet of 5 small pieces of stick on Teflon you can apply to various sewing feet to make them glide over difficult fabric.  Easy instructions to follow and will be trying on my buttonhole foot this AM so I can complete the KS jacket.

Foot Magic

I also received new patterns from the recent Club BMV sale.  I have to stay away from this site.

Off to the sewing room now.  I cut out the KS vest pattern and that should be an easy garment to sew.  But first I am going to make that buttonhole.

Merry Wheel

I first saw this Merry Wheel on Cidell's blog Miss Celie Pants. We exchanged an email about it and I saw the "pink one" that someone else had. I have had a search for this on eBay ever since. I recently got a response that a seller had one to sell. I immediately jumped on it. I was bidding against one other buyer and I won!!!!

Now there are two more of these spool holders on eBay. Go figure!
I was concerned about getting this as I noted in a previous post. But the item came on Saturday and I won the bid on Wednesday. So quick delivery!

Fabric purchase

I fell in love with some fabric while shopping at JoAnn's the other week. Since I won the gift certificate door prize for JoAnn's at our ASG meeting Thursday night, I decided to go to JoAnn's and purchase the fabric yesterday. I used my gift certificate, my ASG JoAnn's discount card, plus a 40% off discount for one item coupon and made the fabric as well as some notions/threads purchase.

The fabrics are cotton, rayon and polyester blends. Some are machine washable should I choose to go that route. Here are some photos of my haul.

The middle photo is Gutermann thread in a variety of colors. The sewing box is reusable as the thread spools sit on a cylinder so as you use thread up you can put another thread spool of this size in its place. I also was able to purchase invisible zippers in matching or similar colors to use in the dresses I plan to make from the solid fabrics. I was tickled as I have only been able to find white, beige or black invisible zippers locally.

Diva Cordmaker

I meant to post about a notion I bought a couple of months ago. I have made a few trims using yarns and ribbons. Many of you knit in addition to sewing. I have never ever been successful at knitting and decided I really don't want to knit. I do love what many of you who knit make. But I am hopeless.

For me this is my knitting. I do use lots of yarns, acquired them for felting as well. Here is a photo of the Diva Cordmaker. I purchased mine locally but learned about it at http://www.joggles.com/. They sell them at that site along with yarns and such to make trim. They have a tutorial on their site as well.

The trim in the photo is one of several trims I have made. This one I am playing around with to make trim for my Chanel jacket.
