A little sewing going on here

Today has been a good day. I got drapes and curtains for the house. Curtains were for the kitchen. I put those up. Drapes are going to require a little assistance from DH.

I bought the curtains at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I love that store. They have more gadgets and stuff for the entire household. I bought some stack and lock food storage containers. I have not bought things like this since we moved into the house almost 6 years ago. Thought it was time for a change.

I went to B&N and purchased the fall Vogue and InStyle magazines. Trying to get pumped up for some fall sewing.

I started working on the blouse again. I found a few sewing flaws with collar attachment to blouse, so reworked that. Serge finished the sleeves and then got side tracked on doing some other things in the sewing room. Then discovered it was time to start dinner so got that started and decided to post a little to the blog while things are simmering.

I am not feeling the love for this blouse at this time. Yet I want to finish it so I can move on to some other sewing projects. I don't want to put it aside, I have really gone to far to just stop. It's just not making me feel like it is what my expectations were. Will see.

Oh I got my Burda magazine today and plan to peruse that this evening.

Later.

Sewing this weekend

Well my plan is to finish the blouse that I have not been able to do much with at this time. The collar stand and collar are complete. Sleeves next and then hem, buttonholes and attach buttons. All of this sounds like easy things to do. Yet sometimes I am amazed at how long it takes to do these things if you can not sit and sew without interuptions.

DH is suppose to work tomorrow AM so that gives me some time without interuptions. Yet I also need to do some housecleaning (yeck) and plan to put up new drapes and new curtains in living room and kitchen. I am being Suzi domestic which I unfortunately am not. I hate housework and such with a passion. I have a refrigerator magnet that says--"We both can't be beautiful at the same time, its me or the house".

New Fabric, New Patterns and Few more sewing minutes

I ordered a 'gowchass" knit fabric from Gorgeous Fabrics. Of course I don't have availability to a camera at the moments so you will have to be patient and wait. But it is truly lovely, exceeded my expectation.

I also got two new patterns this week. They are from an independent pattern maker called Colette. Her patterns come in a little booklet and I am looking forward to trying both patterns. I ordered "Macaroon" and "Parfait". Both are cute dresses. I want to try the Macaroon pattern first.

I sewed a little more on my knit cardigan this AM. I had a doctor's appointment so had a little extra time this morning to attach the collar to the back neckline and to topstitch in place. I then pinned the side seams to try on. I think it fit well. I unpinned the side seam and then pinned the sleeves in place to sew them next. Slow but steady.

After work

I was able to work on my dress a little this evening while starting dinner and in between various chores. Taking the 10-20-30 minutes to sew when you can is worth it.

I trimmed the collar and upper front facing seam. Turned the collar and the front facing inside out and was pleased with how the collar was looking. Needs pressing and a little more trimming in the area where the collar and facing join. Next will be to sew the two sleeve pieces together, sew up the side seams, insert the sleeves, hem the dress, attach the snaps, topstitching the facings down and I will have a new dress.

This is a pen striped material with the stripes being a lovely blue shade. I acquired a blue fabric this weekend on sale at a local fabric/sewing machine dealer/quilting store. I am not sure if this is the right blue but if so, I can see me making the pattern jacket from it to go with this dress. It will give it a little "pop".
