Finally, the jacket is complete! It is hard to believe this is complete. When I sew a garment that I have not made before, I record information in a notebook as I sew along. This helps me to remember changes I made to fit the pattern or to change the design, etc. I looked at my notes and realized I started on this jacket in early/mid July. Life and the lack of desire to sew just hindered the progress. I somewhat lost interest in the jacket while sewing it also. But I was bound and determined to finish it today.
Here is one view of the jacket after I sewed on the buttons as the final step. Here is one more view. I like the jacket and think it will look nice with pants or a skirt. Not sure there is another one of these in the future or not. I am glad that the project is over. I am in the mood to make some knit tops. I have a stack of knit fabrics pulled out of the collection to begin.

Fabric Mart Sale
This has been a busy work week so have not spent much time at computer or in sewing room. Of course this AM reading emails I came across one from Fabric Mart. 50% Blowout sale plus an additional 15% off. Wow! How can one pass that up.
So I bought several items. Most are still summer time colors and fabric but a bargain is a bargain. Or if I can't sew let's buy some fabric anyway and think about what you are going to make.
For once this coming Saturday should not be a day where DH and I are running all over the place and I am already visualizing myself finishing the McCall jacket that has consumed way too much of my time!!!
Got to run, will try to post links or photos of my new fabric purchase that will be coming my way soon.

Simplicity3756
I posted this pattern for sale on Pattern Review. I bought two of this one. One of those senior moments. Not sure if anyone has responded to my classified at PR.
I had thought I was going to make the long shorts but the way my sewing has gone probably not!

SleeveCloseup
This is a close up of the sleeve. I am not sure how I feel about the sleeve ruffles. I know they are showing up on numerous jackets. I have not been a ruffle person since junior/senior high school.
JacketUnit
This is what I completed yesterday, the jacket unit. I attached the sleeve ruffles and the sleeve to the jacket.
Blogroll
I have been trying to catch up on my blog reading. It is always so helpful in many ways to read other blogs. The information garnered usually relates to sewing. However in reading Lisa Laree's Sew Random blog, I learned how to get my blogroll to show up on my blog. I too have been using Bloglines to subscribe to numerous blogs; when reading some of Lisa's posts last night I read where she wrote about her use of that site and how she got her blogroll to post to her blog. Thanks for share that information, Lisa. I now have my blogroll in the sidebar also.
Like Lisa, I would add blogs to my site. However there are so many that I tend to read and just was not getting them all posted on my blog. Now as I subscribe to other blogs it will automatically update on my blog.

Fabric Envy again
I read a lot of blogs. I always am inspired after doing so. I also (sometimes, lots of time) decide that I want a pattern like someone else is making or (sometimes, lots of time) want the same fabric. Example-chocolate eyelet fabric from Metro Textiles. Both Carolyn and Mardel purchased this fabric and posted about it. I was so envious that I decided to call Kashi and ordered what he had left. The result this skirt.
Well reading through blogs where the blogger has written about fall patterns, I am now prowling the pattern websites and I am almost ready for fall-NOT! Ready to think about and start sewing for fall. I like fall but winter comes next and I DO NOT LIKE WINTER!
Of course doing all this reading, I found I again wanted the fabric that Carolyn purchased and wrote about here. (You can click on the title above also to see this post and this fabric.) So, I immediately purchased three yards of it and it arrived Tuesday. I agree with Carolyn it looks better in "real" life than on the monitor. It is a little more stretchy than I thought it would be but I have ideas percolating!
So thanks Carolyn for the inspiration or for enabling me!!! I think you won the award for Fabric Enabler, right?

Update on Jacket
I got more completed today but I am finding that the nice and cooler weather is calling me to go outside and play. It was so nice that I grilled steaks and potatoes. Then whipped up a nice toss salad with good ol' ice tea with lemon. It was delicious if I say so myself.
But I digress. I have made some final fittings to the jacket back darts. I was then able to topstitch the band onto the jacket. I then sewed the lining fronts and backs. The sleeves for the jacket and the lining are complete. I have to add the ruffle to the sleeve. Because I normally don't follow the lining instructions with most patterns as they would have you do lots of hand sewing, I need figure out how I want to attach the ruffle to the sleeve.
My DH asked exactly what I was going to with the jacket. I just gave him this look and said sometimes the fabric calls to you and then the "wear with" follows. Actually I am not sure what I will wear with the jacket. I don't own a skirt in pale yellow anymore. That one went to Goodwill. It also has some brown in it which I have several brown skirts that might work with it along with some brown slacks. This project was one that the fabric did leap out of my stash and became what it is, so perhaps there will be the skirt or pants that will follow.
I will try to post photos of my progress thus far later.

On to the next project. I made this pattern previously. I made View C. I wear the top frequently though I feel it is a little large on me....
