New Look skirt is 98% complete

What a challenge this skirt was because of the fabric, it would ravel looking at it..  Just about every seam was serged and seam tape fused.  The skirt did not call for a lining but it was necessary for this fabric.  Besides I really like lined skirts most of the time.

So all is complete with this skirt except for the hem.  I realized I cut out the longer version of the skirt and NL patterns as are most patterns are designed for tall people, not petite/vertically challenged indivduals as I am.  So I will cut off about two inches to have the 1 1/4 inch hem called for.

Now I am undecided what I really want to make next.  I put off a McCall's dress pattern with raglan sleeves as I just am not "feeling it" for this dress.  I think I want to continue with skirts and have a few knit tops I want to sew up also.

I will sleep on it as I do have one more day of vacation left and hopefully can start new project tomorrow.

Kwik Sew 3764

I began the pattern tracing of KS 3764.  I am going to make View A ( jacket on left) with all the zippers.  I found several sources for separating zippers; the one with the most selections of colors and sizes was Erica's Sewing and Craft Center.  The fabric I am going to use for this was purchased several months ago from Hancock's in Richmond, VA.  I washed and dried it and it did very well.  I think it is in the denim family; I thought maybe linen like but it washed and dried with hardly a wrinkle.

All pieces are traced except for the sleeve and that I will do soon; hopefully I will be able to pin fit pattern this afternoon. I have an upcoming business trip that I need to get ready for and the weather promises to be in the mid to upper 50's today which makes me want to be outside for a brief period of time.

Fabric purchase during my travels

Monday I traveled to Richmond, VA for business.  I arrived about 1.5 hours earlier than my meeting, so after lunch I popped in to Hancock's I was able to purchase two KS patterns.  I also had two fabric pieces jump into my cart and assisted a fellow sewist/shopper about a piece of fabric for a dress she was making.

I bought 3 yards of black double knit.  I had acquired a yard recently from Fabric.com but I did not like the look of this double knit.  It was rather thin and had a shine to it that did not go well with the fabric I was going to use it with.  I will use it with something else later.  I also found a faux snake/reptile skin fabric that I knew I wanted to make into a jacket or vest.

This looks better in real time than I could capture with my camera.  This next photo shows the wrong side.  It is a woven.

The sewing mojo is back in full swing, my problem is lack of time to sew with so many others things going on right now.  I am taking the week after Christmas off and plan to get a few items sewn.
