Jalie 2921 Complete

I was able to finish the second Jalie top yesterday evening.  I worked on it a little during the week; basting the side seams for fit and tweaking the center front seam.

Collar tied.

I like my second version better than the first.  As I posted previously I raised the neckline about an inch and also took horizontal tucks in the upper chest and upper back areas through the armscyce.  This adjustment helped to better fit the underarm seams.

In raising the neckline I should have reduced the width of the tie collar, but didn’t so I now need to turn the collar down so it does not come so far up on my neck.

I stitched the sleeve and bodice hems with my coverstitch machine.  I see more of this top in my future.

My last 2010 Project

I completed the KS 3790 pattern this AM.  Since most of the work was done yesterday, I am making this my last sewing project for 2010.  I only had to hem it this AM and used my coverstitch machine.  It worked perfectly, first time used in months.

I have very mixed feelings about the top and for now will wear it at home.  The issue is the front neckline which even though understitched continues to flip over to the front.  I am going to try to sew a coin or washer inside a little pouch and attach to the center of the front facing to see if that helps.  This is an issue with most everyone who sewed this top and reviewed on Pattern Review.

The drape of the fabric has it drooping more at the gathered side seam.  Plus the added width from my FBA added more droop.  I ended up taking a deeper side seam on the opposite side which helped.

Coverstitch hem

This is my first hemmed project with new coverstitch machine. I really was impressed with how well it turned out. More photos and review later.

I finally did it!

I made the plunge and acquired a new coverstitch machine. Our local Janome dealer got a great price break on these machines so I put my name in the hat for one. I picked it up last week. I coverstitched the sleeves hem on the finally completed KS tri-colored dress. Photos later. It sews great and oh sooooo! easy to thread.

I had to do some rearranging in my already cluttered and small sewing room. I have this machine sitting next to the serger and my embroidery machine is at the other end of the table and can easily be pulled forward to do embroidery. I have to admit I am not doing as much of that as I use to and have thought long and hard about selling the machine. For now, I am holding on to it.
