I returned yesterday late afternoon from DC. It was a very good conference and weather though to some was "hot"; it was perfect for me. Unfortunately for me my plans to go to G Street got canceled; it was a work related thing that started out as a mountain and was really only a mole hill. I did however go shopping (mostly window shopping) with some of my staff at the Fashion Centre Mall at Pentagon City. I think we made it to all floors. So much to see and not enough money or time.
I did get some great ideas for blouses with ruffles. I also saw a blouse costing over $100 with the worst sewn ruffles ever on a blouse. I wanted to take a photo of it with my cell phone but sales lady kept hanging around while I looked. More about this later.
Back to the office today!

Well then, since you didn't get to the fabric store, you must console yourself by ordering some!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you didn't get to G Street. I really enjoyed my visit there.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you had to miss G Street! Lucky you being here for the good weather, though. Starting yesterday we are back to cold and rainy.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you couldn't make it to G Street! And for something that turned out to be molehillish! I totally hear you on window shopping at Pentagon City - I've been known to browse our higher end stores here and it's always a mix of learning new little details and tricks and being utterly amazed at some of the shoddy workmanship. If I've gotten nothing else out of sewing, at least I know I can spot and avoid poorly made shirt!
ReplyDeleteWell, Ann at Gorgeous Fabrics is having a sale, Fabric Mart, Fabric.com, the list goes on for you to choose from, hahaha! I, too, at least can spot the shoddy RTW, and how cheap the fabric they are using is. But some people would rather spend their money on it than have made it for less, sometimes and fit and look better.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you didn't get to G Street.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at the poor fabric and workmanship I see in stores these days. Yes, I can get ideas, but mainly the shopping experience gets my sewing machine humming. Maybe next time you'll get to G Street.
