The votes thus far for which dress to make for 45th Class Reunion shows V9017 as the most recommended. Thanks for taking the time to vote.  I had this one as my first choice followed by the McCall's dress.

I just got the new Vogue Pattern Magazine and this dress is showcased with the upper bodice pieces being one fabric and the lower bodice pieces being a solid black which gives me something else to contemplate.  My plan was to use the brown/black fabric for the center piece and the black for outer pieces.  Decisions, decisions.

Back to work today!

Additional feedback

Several others have posted about coverstitch and blindhem machines since I posted a poll. I wanted to acknowledge that feedback and to say again thank you for your input and comments. I am trying to find a local -one to two hour drive-to some dealer who has a coverstitch in the shop for demo. I am on vacation after Christmas and thought it would be a great time to try one out!

The Babylock Coverstitch received this highest votes. What I read about this machine has been positive. The frustrating part for me about buying either machine is that both local dealers of Babylock and Janome do not have a coverstitch machine in house for me to try before I buy. I recognize that perhaps these machines are not the top sellers but wouldn't you have one in house to let people test out???

Well, still undecided about what I will do. Again thank you for participating and responding.

Since returning to work, no sewing going on here. Tomorrow I travel to Richmond, VA for business, staying overnight for AM meeting on Friday and returning home Friday evening. So sewing is on back burner for the moment. Later..........

Enquiry minds want to know

I recently saw on several blogs where individuals have purchased new sergers, coverstitch machines, etc. I have contemplated buying a coverstitch machine as well as a blind hemmer. My serger has coverstitch capabilities but it is somewhat of a hassle to convert machine to coverstitch mode. I have also entertained the idea of buying the Babylock serger that has the jet stream threading and coverstitch capabilities that seem easy to use with a flip of a dial or switch.

I also have read several blogs where sewists have a blind hemmer and use it regularly. I thought it would be interesting to see what others would do if you were in a position to make the purchase.

I really appreciate comments from readers. It is always nice to know there are others out there with sewing issues and to read how they have solved things.

Marji commented on the jacket included with the dress pattern. I agree that the jacket is just not for everyone and is not necessarily my style. I was thumbing through the Talbot's catalog last night and found a sheath style dress with a jacket that is very much like this one from McCalls. It looked a little shorter and was shown with a sheath style dress but with a different neckline.

I also have this one in mind, using View C but collar from View A. And this one and modifying the collar as I think it will be overwhelming on me.

I also like this Vogue one but all the views are shown with pants, so may not work with sheath style. Or maybe a duster style like this one?
