WIP Top

I took these photos two days ago. I am in the final stages of completing this top. Sewing is taking me forever do to these days.

I made some changes to the front pattern piece as my pattern sizing was xs-m. I need m-l. The odd shape of the front pattern is unusual. I will have to take better pictures of the front piece and how I made changes.  After doing this I thought it could end up being all screwed up.  Happy to report that is not the case.

After completing the front pattern and stitching to the back at the shoulders, I then basted the side seams for fitting purposes.

I am happy with the result of this. I achieved the necessary increase in my bust and waist. I noted on my pic that the bulge is from the pants I was wearing at the time. You have to click on the pic to see my comment. I should have made the fonts larger.

I am very pleased with the back fit. The bulge I pointed to is the back pockets of the pants. I don't plan to wear this top with pants or skirts with pockets. I am also pleased that the upper back and waist are not gaping or pooling. I did not add any width to back piece though I may need to at the hip area in the future. The side seams are basted and will sew a 3/8 seam from the waist down on the finished piece.

Since this fitting, I removed side seam basting stitches and stitched the sleeves using the flat sewing method.  The pattern has you sew this in the round. I just don't normally do this with knits.

I lost the neckband pattern piece so have to draft another one to attach next.  I then will sew the side seam and should be done!

I will share final steps and pattern piece changes in my next post.

New Project M7975

I started making pattern adjustments yesterday to McCall's 7975; I made the final one this morning.

I made swayback, forward shoulder, FBA, and high round back adjustments. The bust adjustment was somewhat tricky and hopefully what I did will work, will see.

The fabric I am using I thought was from Fabric Mart but was from Girl Charlie and is a lightweight sweater knit purchased in 2018.

I plan to cut out the fabric this afternoon. I have 3 yards of this, so I am sure I will have some leftover for another project. More information to follow!

B6687 Wearing

Yesterday, late afternoon, DH and I had to pick up a few food items as well as prescriptions. After returning, I decided to take shots of me wearing the newly completed top.

In an earlier post, I mentioned having some fitting issues. After completing and taking these photos, I feel there are other adjustments I could make should I ever attempt to make this again. I am not thrilled about this top.

This is, of course, the front. I like the look of this and the look of the sleeves in this photo.

This is a semi-side view. The top is pulling at the hip area so this is part of the diagonal lines I see. I had a lot of issues Inserting the sleeves was an issue also. Perhaps there is still a need for bust adjustment.

This is a look of the sleeves from the front. I like the sleeves and was part of the reason for trying this top.

Now for the back! I posted previously with the top on a hanger that the odd wings with the sleeves were caused by the hanger, NOT.  They are that way while wearing also. Not what I was expecting, nor do I like! I made a swayback adjustment also but still have bunching!

I am not happy with the outcome at all.  I am also tired of the project.  At least I finally sewed this fabric and this gives me a total of close to 5 yards out of the stash.

Next up, at this time and subject to change, is McCall's 7975. I just have not found the right fabric in my stash and still looking.

We are staying in place as much as possible and still well!

I am not doing well as a blogger. I have been working on this project since July 30. Today, I finally finished it. It has been a stop-and-g...
