With the largest size being 14 I knew I would have to make a FBA; and the front piece is all one piece so adjusting that was a little challenging and requires adjusting the contrast bottom front piece as well. Swayback adjustment also required adjusting the one piece back and contrast back pattern. My other usual adjustments included forward shoulder and shortening the sleeves. The sleeves with this pattern seem to be tight and the pattern markings for bicep size confirm the pin fitting of the sleeves, so I had to add 3/4 inches to the bicep area.
I have yet to cut out the fabric and plan to do so later today. More updates to follow.
Love, love, love this pattern.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have made a little progress today on it.
DeleteI am so sad when the small range ends in 14 and the large picks up at 16. Wahhhhh.
ReplyDeleteHope the adjustments go well. I can't wait to see this one!
There was a lot of pattern maneuvers because of the one piece upper front and back pieces. I started sewing it today after getting all of the pieces cut out.
DeleteI hate it too. This top in on my list to make as well.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing yours. I found the pattern adjustments with this time consuming but think it will lead to a good fit. I just got the fabric cut out this AM and started the sewing this afternoon.
DeleteTotally agree with your comments regarding the size breaks. That pattern is lovely, but looks like a real pain to do a FBA on. Looking forward to seeing your finished garment. You always do a great job!
ReplyDeleteIt was a real nail biter to do the FBA. I think it came out okay. I cut out the fabric and started sewing some today.
DeleteI'm in between a 12 and 14 so I completely understand your pain. The inconsistency can get quite annoying.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see how you maneuvered the adjustments for the multiple pieces. I know some patterns don't have advice for that.
I posted a brief photo of how I did the front pieces. I will try to post another with more detail.
