The fabric I am using is from Waechter's in Asheville, NC. I acquired it along with several other fabrics while being there on business about two years ago. This is a rayon fabric in blues and cream.
It looks like finger painting. For the yoke on this pattern I cut the fabric on the cross grain to give it a horizontal stripe look. The bottom pieces were cut on the lengthwise grain and thus stripes are running down. Even with some fitting adjustments for the drop shoulders with this pattern prior to cutting out the fabric, the shoulder drop was still rather long. I ended up cutting off 3/8 inches at the shoulder/arm area and adjusted the sleeve pattern as well.
This project is almost complete. I have had a very productive 4 day holiday.
What a fun fabric! It is going to look really nice :) m.
ReplyDeleteI have that fabric too! I'm jealous of all the things you accomplished on your four days off! You must be sooooo relaxed!
ReplyDeleteCennetta had this material also. I am relaxed and so sorry your sewing weekend did not go as you would like, hopefully all will be back to normal soon.
DeleteLinda, this fabric is gorgeous, I can't wait to see it made up. You do so much sewing, and everything always looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah
DeleteHi Linda! I emailed you over the weekend to let you know that you won the vintage sheet and pattern from my blog giveaway! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI will need you to get in touch with me by Friday so that I can mail out your package
Wow! Thank you, I will go and check my emails and get back to you!
DeleteThanks
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to try the Style Arc patterns. That shipping is so prohibitive for me! I can't wait to see your come to life. Are you going to get the Colette Hawthorn?
ReplyDeleteThought about it and decided to wait. I have some fitting issues with her patterns. I like the style though!
DeleteI adore StyleArc. I've found that their sizing is close to Australian RTW sizing. I take a size 10 or 8, depending on the fabrication. They are so well drafted that I gladly pay the shipping. It's worth every penny to me, because I don't have to spend time futzing with the fit like I do with other pattern lines.
ReplyDeleteI actually thought I might try a 10. I really like her patterns and have five or six, with the last 4 being 12's. I am petite and find that with lots of patterns I hve to make some adjustments for shoulder width. When I buy RTW, I wear a 14P for tops but can sometimes go with 10/12 in regular non-petite. Depends on style.
