Next project-Simplicity Dress

This is my next project.
I have been reading through the instructions for this dress. I was impressed by the dress Cennetta of Mahogany Stylist made for her daughter. I am excited by all of the combination options included in this pattern. I plan to make the ruffle top with stand up collar and straight/pencil skirt. Sleeves or no is dependent on fabric availability, though I think there will be sufficient fabric for a short sleeve version.
Here is my fabric choice.
Very spring looking IMHO. Today we are having winter again, high of 47 after a Saturday and Sunday highs in upper 60's to low 70's. So sewing spring colors and lighter weight fabrics are keeping me in a spring time mode. The green/pink/yellow apple fabric I acquired from a vintage fabric seller on eBay. This fabric is truly lovely and feels great. Whether truly vintage, I don't really know but it met my expectations when it arrived, actually it was better than expected. The green is a silk noil I purchased from Nancy's Notions. I have not sewn silk noil in several years but I always liked the feel and the look garments from this fabric.

  2. It is a pretty combination and I like silk noil too! Are you washing your piece because it can get quite a bit nubbier by washing it...it would make a nice texture and play against the smooth cotton.

  5. Oh yeah, that pattern is pretty. I have it too, and so far I've a muslin. I love the fact that you can make a ton of different dresses with it, and they can look pretty unique. I'm excited to see your version of it. :)

  6. I'm liking that the Runway patterns have a lot of choices to put together. That's really an improvement and great addition. The other pattern companies should take a clue.

  8. I really like it! I've been wanting to make that pattern for a while just but just haven't figured out what fabrics and all. Plus busy on SWAP stuff so, well, there's my excuse. I can't wait to see your version!
