Mail Freak

I love to get mail. My husband calls me a "mail freak". Walking down my driveway to the mailbox is good exercise but it is a thrill to open it and find that I have got mail. When I am away, my DH brings in the mail and puts it in my lazyboy chair.

It was great to see the things I got in the mail-JoAnn's flyer, Threads Magazine (I have not finished reading the previous one), two newsletters from two somewhat local independent fabric and sewing machine dealers. These should help restore my sewing mojo.

  1. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm actually staking out the mailbox waiting for Ottobre Woman. I got a nice surprise though -- Vogue Pattern magazine. Now I have something to thumb through while I anxiously await my magazine.

  3. You have a great blog. I'd love for you to come and visit my blog. I just made a Vintage Vogue Original 1944 Design, V2858. On the previous page you'll find a dress I made from an original 1974 pattern that I found in an antique store. I call that post The Lady in Lavender. And lots of other things in between. Hope you enjoy.

  4. I also love mail, except of course, bills. I usually put those on my husband's desk, so it doesn't ruin my day!

I think sewig is much like other arts, in that the artist takes a break from his work now and then. Think painting. Writing. People who do those things do not do them constantly. They take a break ad wait for inspiration.

  5. You just made me smile. I'm the same - I look out for our postman and love to get mail. Today he bought me some new patterns I'd ordered - I just love to read them over my morning coffee!

  6. I am the same way as you about mail. I get the great anticipation as I walk to the mailbox. I am so disappointed when there is nothing in there.

  7. Well, well, well. Look how many of us are the same way you are when it comes to the mail. When hubby gets the mail before me he's quick to let me know if there was "any good stuff". I too like getting the sewing magazines and newsletters and even the sales flyers :-)

  8. I am that way too. If it is not sewing related or an order I've been waiting for, I put it aside and go through the good stuff.

  9. Yep, I belong to the "mail freak" club too. And yep, I'm so behind on the sewing magazine reading. I'm starting to think I subscribe to too many mags period.

  10. Count me as a member of the club too! I keep wondering how the post office is doing so badly when almost daily my mailbox is full...guess it's my neighbors who haven't caught onto the thrill of receiving mail!

  11. I'm with you on receiving mail. I enjoy getting the same "surprises". Even though I'm not actively sewing, I still enjoy reading my Threads & BWOF mags. My sewing mojo is still on a long vacation. :)
