End of year pattern haul

One of my sewing related resolutions is to not buy any more patterns.  I decided to add until July. Whether I can hold on to that will be the challenge.  I have already made a fabric purchase three days into the new year after resolving not to buy anymore and setting an end date of July also.

So without further ado here are photos of patterns purchased in December enabled by Club BMV sale or Simplicity sale on Pattern Review.

Simplicity 8348 was reviewed on Pattern Review and this is a vintage pattern I found on Etsy for $7.
I forgot these three also purchased in December.

I think I have enough patterns.  When I look at the patterns online, I feel like I am seeing the same ones just tweaked a bit here and there.  I can make those same tweaks on my patterns also.

I have gone through most all of my patterns and pulling those I know I will never truly make.  I even pulled those I have made before and know I will not use again.  Those I give to Goodwill.  I plan to sell the unused ones on Pattern Review or Ebay.

It snowed here last night and was still snowing when I got up, so today will be a great sew day.  More later.

  1. Fantastic picks! I grabbed a few of these myself.

Good job on the culling. I need to do that too.

    1. Thank you! It's hard to not buy a piece of fabric that you have been drooling over and then they put it on sale. What's a sewist to do.

  3. Well I haven't bought fabric but may have a hard time holding my pledge now that Chic Fabrics is closing in NYC. I will probably buy from them before they close because I have been supporting them this year. But patterns are easier for me ~ I didn't buy any in the last pattern sales and can wait until end of May/beginning of June to purchase spring/summer patterns. Happy Snow Day!

    1. I saw that they were closing. I only found out about them via Instagram. Since they are in your neck of the woods you really have to support them to the end.

  4. I need to cull too. I think your idea to cull is a good one, but maybe saying I will not buy is just too harsh. Cull those you don't want to make again, and buy those that are really special. I'm starting to adopt this mantra, and don't feel as deprived as I do when I say I shall not.

  5. I have a big box of culled patterns that I would like to sell too. I hope you'll post about how that goes.

    1. Wendy, I sold about four jacket patterns as a bundle on Pattern Review a month ago and someone bought them quickly. Sometimes you just have the patterns others want.

  6. Happy New Year, Linda! Good luck on your resolution. I'm trying to slow down on pattern and fabric purchases as well. The first pattern you showed is one I want to make this month. Happy sewing! C

    1. I really have way to many patterns and when I start rummaging through them I find that many are similar and just don't need two of the same.
