Here is a shot of the dress with the pleats and bust dart basted in. As you can see the pleats somewhat droop. Of course neither side has been sewn to back piece. Whether this will make much difference I am not sure. Will see.
I am thinking of stitching the pleating stitch longer; i.e., stitching more toward the center front. Or stitching down the pleats. Your thoughts please.

DeleteI think I'd wait before stitching down your pleats any more. I remember some others making this dress and they did not but I noticed that it was snugly fitted through the waist area which made the pleats do their "thing" properly. This will be a pretty dress!
ReplyDeleteI sure do love the color of this. My only thoughts on the pleats are to wait until you try the dress on yourself, because your body might press on the pleats enough to keep them from looking droopy. In other words, the dress form is too stiff to really see if the drape is too much in the pleats. If they are droopy, you might be able to take more in in the side seam to get them to lay nicely. Just some thoughts, but not sure if they are the solution.
