This evening I actually sewed something

Since last weekend's reunion celebration, I have not sewn any. I really have not had the inclination to sew. This evening however, I got the urge to pick up where I left off on my knit top. I am working on the tricky part of the neckline that is pleated and tucked over. Following the drawings with the instructions, I was able to sew this part and it is starting to come together. It is truly like working with a puzzle.

I again lost interest in the project and decided to take a moment to post something on my blog. I know this is just a phase of non-sewing that I and many of us go through from time to time. When I get like this it is good to visit other blogs or fabric sites and even online fashion catalogs for some inspiration. This weekend will be one of staying around the house and I know that I will pick up my sewing again.

  1. I get like that, sometimes, I pick up patchwork or something else.

  2. What helps for me when I have some trouble finding motivation is to do a little project in between the large ones. Or even during. A little something for the little ones. Or a present. A clutch or a toy. Something quick and easy, so I don't have to think. Often this helps to bring me back into my sewing mojo (I always see people use that word. I just HAD to use it once too ;-)) Goodluck. And I look forward to seeing you sew again. I love your work!

  3. Inspiration will bite you again. I think our creative brain sometimes needs a rest.

Thank you for commenting on my Facebook page. It's been a nightmare of a week with DH having to go to the ER twice and numerous Dr. visits. He will be ok but will require some medical procedures.

  4. When my sewing inspiration goes away is usually when I work on something crafty and non-sewing. It sounds like you're finding your groove again, though, so I hope you have a productive sewing weekend!

  5. I cut out that top this morning - hope to start on it shortly!! You know, it is ALL YOUR FAULT!!!!! I had seen the pattern and not bought it and then you mentioned it and melted my resolve!! It was on sale at patternreview. To make matters worse, they have that free shipping deal if you spend a certain amount. Yes, I ended up with a few more patterns! I have a long a-line skirt cut out also (non Jalie).

  6. I'm with you. When a project just isn't working, trash it and move on. Life is too short.
