Tagged!

I was recently tagged by Tracey at Praised Garments. So here are a list of 7 things you may not know about me.

1-I was married once before(briefly). I got married on Halloween. For two weeks it was a "treat" and then it became a "trick". I have been married to my second husband for 34+ years.

2. I attended one year of college after graduating and then dropped out to become a "hippy". I laugh about this now, it was hard to be a hippy in a small town that was and is three to five years behind everyone else. When I met my DH, he persuaded me to go back to school as he was going to college under the GI Bill. So I did. I have a degree in Social Work and several hours toward my MBA. I will never get that MBA.

3. I have lived in several states and this was due to my job and my choice. I left Virginia in 1981, moved to Corpus Christi, TX where I lived for 8 years. I moved to Santa Rosa, CA and lived there two years, then move to Lakeland, FL where I lived for 9 years. I went to work for another non-profit organization and moved to Lehigh Valley, PA where I lived 2.5 years. I returned to the non-profit organization where I worked previously and have been here for 4 years.

4. I am an only child. My mother died from Alzheimer's. My dad is now in an assisted living facility in North Carolina in early stages of Alzheimer's. I am truly concerned about my odds of having this horrible disease. Sewing helps keep my mind occupied and on new projects which is good. Solving puzzles and trying new things are good for the brain per the folks researching this disease, so is good nutrition and exercise.

5. I own several sewing and sewing related machines. Viking Designer SE, Janome 300E embroidery machine, Babylock Embellisher-needle felting machine, and an Elna 744 serger. I would like to have a blindhemmer and coverstitch machine. This of course would require a larger sewing room.

6. I love music and really love classic rock. I also like Zydeco, Jazz, Blues and some C&W music.

7. I love the beach and would love to live near one. I can smell the saltwater, hear the surf and the seagulls. I think of warmth when I think of the beach. Looking at water gives me peace of mind and heart.

Now for me to tag someone who has not been tagged? Not sure who has or has not. Here are four people. Hopefully they will read this and see that they have been tagged.

  2. Thanks for sharing. Is the Viking Designer SE as wonderful as the ads say it is? I was sort of thinking about getting one myself until the Bernina 730 captured my attention.

  3. Thanks for sharing so much of your personal life with the rest of us. I love collecting sewing machines and have several that wait for a sewing room.

  4. Linda, wow, you really shared a lot of your "story". I'd say most of us turned out OK!! I never did get to the "hippie" stage, I was too busy trying to earn a living! Sorry to hear about your parent's Alzheimer's. It is a horrible disease. My husband's parents each had dementia, 2 different forms. I think he shares your trepidations also. But we do move onward and forward!
